Chapter 7 Horse Riding in The 21st Century
Exercises To Promote An Independent Seat
Author Avis Senior
School horses suffer at the hands of a beginner and novice riders …
It is crucial that the horse is not subjected to indiscriminate distress during your exercise regime. I have seen far too many school horses suffer at the hands of a beginner and novice riders bouncing around in the saddle, while simultaneously juggling with the reins as they make futile attempts at directing the horse and his motion.
These riders are NOT taught how to ride; they are merely shown abusive skills in how to make their horses move from kick of the leg and to stop at the pull of the rein! if you are in this category, I urge you to insist on having a leader so that you have the freedom to concentrate solely on learning the art of riding through balance and harmony.
